![]() ![]() I really like the three-dimensional stencils. There's lots of cool stencils that come with OmniGraffle 7. The Point Editor is nice, now I can easily add the right number of magnetic points that I want to put on a shape. I have seen it in other applications, but really don't understand it enough to appreciate the feature. I don't understand the functionality of an Artboard. Perhaps over time there will be more SVG files. For example on CreateMarket they have 8,424 SVG files, and 136,662 EPS files. I have found that there are way more EPS files than SVG files. Scalable Vector Graphics (SVG) Support is nice, EPS support would have been better. The adjustment of the Inspector pallet to the window is much easier to read and deal with. I just open up the Application and get to work. Right out of the box the Infinite Canvas is very nice, now I don't have to worry about the size of the document. OmniGraffle website list the main features being: Infinite Canvas, SVG Support, Artboards, Stroke to Shape, Text to Shape, Point Editor, Keyboard Shortcuts. Version 7 is a complete redesign with lots of new features and functionality. OmniGraphic Pro was necessary for me to open up all the Visio documents that customers would send me. ![]() The application provided the right tools to create attractive looking process flow charts. I purchased OmniGraphic in 2005 to help with some onsite training. ![]() It's certainly worth looking out if you have a subscription, and if you don't have a subscription, you should certainly sign up for their free 10-day trial. It's a good way to learn some of the features of the application. has several hours of training on OmniGraphic 5 and 6. This is is a good time to look at OmniGraphic since they are about to release version 7. With the iPad Pro, I only need to buy a Pencil and cheaper design apps (compared to desktop apps) to work.If your need to create diagrams, process charts, website or graphic design then OmniGraphic is certainly something to look at. Why is it cheaper? As a designer I have to buy/upgrade to new Wacom tablets and Macs at least every 3-4 years. We adapt our workflow on what we have rather than what we expect it can do because I can’t afford the latest 15” MacBook Pro and powerful/expensive softwares. That’s why I also moved to Affinity Photo and Designer rather than Adobe software. I’m also open to learning new software if its cheaper. That’s also the reason why I sold my MacBook Pro and using an iPad Pro instead for my work. I can’t tell my clients that I have to charge them higher because I changed my software to something more expensive. I spend more time making sure that it’s the right software for me and stick with it because going to another software means it might be a good fit making me waste more money or that it will be costly in the long run. We get creative in a way that we find ways to maximize our budget. I’m lucky enough that my Todoist subscription won’t expire until 2020 because of referrals and was able to win a contest run by Doist itself adding another free annual sub. Apple a year ago decided to change the App Store to our local currency instead of charging US dollar making it better for us. I also try to contact some of the developers and some are nice enough to give me a discount. Sometimes we ask friends if they have referral codes for discount and/or longer trial period. I guess I’m just excited with having an option of paying for Omnigraffle when I need it by having a monthly sub in the future.īesides that it is much more expensive especially now that my countries’ currency is dropping making software much more expensive than before, we look for deals & promo codes. So I’m hoping that their other apps will follow through starting with Omnifocus. So as much I would love to use Omnigraffle, I can’t afford it with its asking price. Big difference, so expensive software are out of our reach. ![]() If a designer gets paid $3000 minimum for a project in the US. Because while we can afford it, they are living in a country where the cost of living is higher than ours and they should be paid the amount that they asked. I hope after this sub model, they would consider that model instead of providing us a regional pricing (we get cheaper Adobe subs compared to US/UK). If we miss a payment, it will be a read-only but have the ability to continue with the payment scheme until you get to pay the total cost and own the software. I suggested to Ken Case back then that I was hoping they would use Fontcase business model instead by letting us pay via installment. We don’t earn the same way most people earned in first world countries being in the 3rd world. One of the reason’s I like subscription is because it makes an app affordable (with a monthly and/or annual price) because most high-end software are out of my reach. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Girne American University - Karmi Campus: Girne Amerikan Universitesi, CYPRUS Thus, these cross-linguistic population-scale statistical results are fully consonant with the inter-individual-level experimental results, and suggest that the observed linguistic diversity may be, at least in some cases, partly driven by genetic diversity.Ĭitation: Dediu D (2021) Tone and genes: New cross-linguistic data and methods support the weak negative effect of the “derived” allele of ASPM on tone, but not of Microcephalin. Overall, the results support a negative weak effect of ASPM-D against the presence of tone above and beyond the strong confounding influences of genealogy and contact, but they suggest that the original association between tone and MCPH1 might have been a false positive, explained by differences between populations and languages within and outside Africa. Motivated by these experimental findings, I conduct here a cross-linguistic statistical test, using a larger and updated dataset of 175 samples from 129 unique (meta)populations, and a battery of methods including mixed-effects regression (Bayesian and maximum-likelihood), mediation and path analysis, decision trees and random forests, using permutations and restricted sampling to control for the confounding effects of genealogy (language families) and contact (macroareas). Recent experimental evidence supports strongly a negative effect of the “derived” allele of ASPM on tone perception and/or processing within individuals, but failed to find any effect for Microcephalin. The original study introducing this proposal used a cross-linguistic statistical approach, showing that these associations are “special” when compared with many other possible relationships between genetic variants and linguistic features. One such proposal is that the population frequencies of the so-called “derived” alleles of two genes involved in brain growth and development, ASPM and Microcephalin, are related to the probability of speaking a tone language or not. While it is generally accepted that language and speech have genetic foundations, and that the widespread inter-individual variation observed in many of their aspects is partly driven by variation in genes, it is much less clear if differences between languages may also be partly rooted in our genes. ![]() ![]() ![]() In my case, since I already use a few others for other things.my case looks like this. So basically, I need 6 channels for the 6 track channels on the VCM. So, I can then use those channels too (9, 10, 11). I have also opted out to NOT USE the 'SEND A' AND 'SEND B' and 'PAN' on the launch pad because I already have nice knobs for them on the VCM. So you can run the numbers and see that we have only a few TOTALLY open channels. I am left with open channels 2, 3, 4, 12, 13, 14, 15 ,16 on the Launchpad. I never use bank 2 of the VCM because I dont like my sliders to change when I come back.so with this example, I will be left with open channels 7-12, 14, 15, 16 on the VCM. One problem I have not figured out is how to get my LEDs to respond correctly on the VCM 600 with this method.so anyone with ideas on how to do that, would be great! Now keep in mind, my set up is a little different due to the fact that I already have a Microkontrol, nanokontrol, and trigger finger all mapped out.so I did a little bit of a work around (because I hate programming them).but I will explain to you what to do.Īlso, keep in mind, if you want to use Novations AUTOMAP, you will lose the ability to page through your session view, as you will have assigned a certain midi value to each clip, rather than the internal mappings that they have made for ableton.which are very convenient.Īlso, realize that I am re-mapping the VCM 600 and NOT the launchpad.as I want the LED to all function correctly on the launchpad. This particular blog will explain to you how to use the VCM 600 with the Novation Launchpad (one of the best combination of controllers in my mind) Its a nice little program that runs while you are running ableton or any other DAW, and lets you remap your controller. What a bitch huh! Well, there is a nice little solution that I have come upon, and its FREE for mac users. Controllers like the VCM 600, Novation Launchpad, VCI-100, etc, are all NON-PROGRAMMABLE. They are predefined on certain channels and values.which can be a NIGHTMARE when trying to use them together. Now-a-days, for some reason, and a really STUPID reason, manufacturers are not making the controllers programmable. This was a nice approach for people who were using multiple controllers.and I prefer this way. In the old days, you could (after reading in depth the manual) individually program which CC value & midi channel each button controlled. Many of the new midi controllers being released are not able to be programmed like the old ones.
